Some senior sessions just hit a little differently.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Miguel and his family for years, and there is something pretty amazing about having your friends’ kids suddenly standing in front of your camera for their senior portraits.

Because in your head you're thinking, Wait…how are we already here?!

But here we are.

Miguel is officially heading into his senior year—and I think it’s safe to say he’s ready for it.

Okay Miguel… Model Much?

I knew this session was going to be fun, but Miguel made my job WAY too easy.

Bringing out his personality wasn’t hard. He has this naturally calm, confident energy about him, and once we started shooting, it was just there.

The serious looks. The relaxed poses. The little bit of attitude.

And that hair catching the golden light? Come on.

We moved all around the property at our Hilton studio, from the cornfield and wildflowers to clean architectural backgrounds before heading inside for some moodier, editorial studio portraits.

Every setup gave us something completely different, but they all still felt like Miguel.

More Than Just Senior Pictures

One thing I always want to capture during a senior session is what makes this person who they are right now.

For Miguel, track and field has been a big part of that story.

So when someone walks into my studio with a collection of medals like his…yeah, we're photographing them.

Those medals represent a whole lot more than what you see hanging around his neck. They represent the hours, the training, the competition, the determination and all of the work it took to earn them.

And Miguel should be incredibly proud of every single one.

And He’s Already Thinking Ahead

What makes this season even more exciting is that Miguel isn’t just preparing for senior year—he’s already getting a head start on what comes after it.

Alongside school, he’s attending cosmetology school, building new skills and giving himself even more opportunities for his future.

I LOVE that.

There is something pretty awesome about being this young and already realizing that you don't have to follow just one path. You can be an athlete. You can be creative. You can explore different interests. You can build skills and create opportunities for yourself before you've even walked across that graduation stage.

Miguel is already doing exactly that.

And knowing him, I have a feeling this is only the beginning.

The Proud Parent Moments ❤️

Of course, having known this family for years made this session extra special for me too.

There were proud parents watching from behind the scenes, family jumping into a few photographs, lots of laughs—and all of those little moments that remind me why I love doing this so much.

As a photographer, I get to see seniors feeling confident and excited about what's ahead.

But I also get to look over and see Mom and Dad watching their kid and thinking, Wow…look at him.

Those moments never get old.

And yes, Mom and Dad—you have A LOT to be proud of.

Miguel, This Is Your Year

Senior year goes ridiculously fast.

So enjoy it.

Keep running. Keep creating. Keep trying new things. Keep building toward whatever comes next.

And most importantly, keep being you.

You have already accomplished so much, you're already working toward your future, and you have an entire family standing behind you cheering you on.

It was such a joy getting you in front of my camera, Miguel.

Although after seeing these pictures, I'm starting to think we need to discuss your modeling career next.

Have the BEST senior year. You’ve earned this moment.
